October Report Card

According to Facebook, many of my friends LOVE the fall. Me, not so much. To me, fall means that cold weather is coming. Just to be clear, I appreciate cuddling under a blanket with a warm cup of tea while wearing cozy clothing. The problem is that I only appreciate it for a brief time. I must be the only strange person in the world who would rather have hot weather. Give me the choice between a 100 degree day or a 40 degree day and the 100 degree day wins hands down. Yes, I know that I am not sane about this. This fall, I have not been doing well at all with keeping up with fall traditions. Here is my fall report card, and it is not pretty.

Fall Decorations - Do empty candy wrappers count? I didn't think so. Grade F

Halloween Decorations - Does a ghost that never got hung up count? No? Grade F

Halloween Costumes - Check! Grade A

Fall Festivals - Mark took the boys to Trunk of Treats, can I still get credit for that one? We also went to Cade's school festival. Grade A-

Pumpkin Patch - Can I blame that we didn't make it to one on the fact that we had so much rain? Grade D

Carving Pumpkin - Ummmmmm. Tried to buy one today to carve, but they seem to all be gone (except for the tiny ones). Do I get some credit for a semi-effort? Grade D

Trick of Treating - YES!!! Grade A

Not a pretty report card!

Rock Stars

Enjoy the pictures of my rock stars. Just try to ignore the fact that Cade is in his underw*ar. He will love me for this picture some day!

October 4, 2009

October 4, 2009 was a very important day for our family, and especially for Chase. This is the day that he made the decision to be baptized. We are proud of him for so many reasons, and this decision is another reason for us to be very proud. We had family members who were able to come in for the big day.

My sister made it.

Chase wanted Mark to baptize him. One of the greatest moments ever.

YES!!!
The entire family. Jenise and Wesley made it. My mom was able to come in for the day. Mark's parents were also able to come in to see the first one of their grandchildren baptized.

One of Nate's friends was able to join us at the zoo.

Nate Quote of the Day

After his "Fall" party at preschool - "I ate a cupcake! Now my p**p is going to be green!" He was disappointed to hear that since the cupcake icing was white, he would not be experiencing green.

Was one girl too much to ask for? I'm just sayin'.

Nephew's Bowling Birthday Party

My sweet nephew turned 5 and had a bowling birthday party to celebrate. Three of the boys and I were able to go. I cannot remember where Mark and Chase were.

Very serious
Cade is a very graceful coordinated child, or not. He comes by his grace naturally

Nate Quote of the Day

After the dentist appointment that finally happened after being
rescheduled twice because of the flu.

"I didn't have any cabinets!"

Cade, however, had 4 "cabinets". Cade, my super-sensitive boy who
often reacts strongly to procedures, has had at least 8 cavities
during his lifetime. Two of my other boys have had zero cavities (even
though I am embarrassingly bad about brushing Nate's teeth), and one
boy has had one cavity. We are going to try a prescription toothpaste.
Hopefully the cavities will stop.

Nate's First Day of Preschool

Nate switched preschools this year. So far he is really enjoying it and learning A LOT. His first day was the day after his birthday. Here he is with the new goofy grin that he has been using for pictures lately.

We were able to celebrate his birthday at preschool. He stood in the chair while his class sang to him.
Not really sure what to think about that.

Such a cute mess.

Things I Will Miss

Sitting in an auditorium with 2 boys scrunching up close to me. They
are both getting tired, and they both put their heads in my lap. I
stroke one's soft, fine hair (that comes from me) and the other's
coarse, thick hair (that comes from some unknown gene). Contentment.
It is time to leave, and I carry one for a while. I feel his sweet,
chubby arms around my neck and his comforting weight in my arms.
Nothing sweeter than having him rest his head on my shoulder. This
will be gone before I want it to be. These are the things that I will
miss the most. The 2 bigger ones have already moved on to bigger and
better things. Sigh.

Nate's Birthday Party

Nate turned 4 on August 25th. I can't believe that my baby is 4!! This year, we had a small family party at Chuck E. Cheese's. Nate had a great time.

My sister-in-law, nephew, and nieces were able to come.

Mimi was there.

Aunt Niecey made it too
