Thanksgiving 2008

Mark had to work the day before and after Thanksgiving, so we hosted at our house this year. All of Mark's family was able to come, including his cousin and her family. My parents were also able to make it.
Here is all of Mark's family - the cousins had so much fun together.
My dad is in this shot, my mom somehow managed to avoid the camera.

Cade LOVES having his back scratched.

Mark's cousin, Jane, and her family
We had a great time. We are so blessed to have a wonderful family.

Random Pre-Thanksgiving Post

Just a few things that I want to remember. On Friday, Cade came in from school sad that he had missed a word on his spelling test. He proceeded to tell me that he missed the word because the people in his class MADE him miss it. So I asked him if they held his hand and made him spell it wrong. He ammended his story to say that one friend made him miss it. After I asked him if she had held his hand and made him spell it wrong, then I was able to help him take responsibility for his own mistake. About this time, he discovered Crabby's fate. Actually, Dylan finally noticed that Crabby was missing. So, from Monday until Friday, Crabby was not thought about by Cade. Poor Crabby. Cade immediately tried to blame everyone else about Crabby's fate. Love how he takes personal responsibility :( Here are a few pictures from his latest Little Gym karate class show day.

Chase was here, too, but he was too mature to come into the gym.

Cade in his penguin outfit - he still loves costumes.

A few things about Nate that I want to remember:

- his favorite breakfast right now is frozen waffles. And I do mean FROZEN. He does not want them cooked, he wants them straight out of the freezer!!
- the other morning, he was insisting that he wanted some milk and gas to drink. I tried to explain to him what gas was and why he would not want to drink it, but he was not convinced. I finally gave up and put some "gas" in his cup. He was happy and didn't seem to notice that his "gas" drink tasted just like milk :)
- Nate loves to sing. Unlike other kids who sing sweet songs about Jesus, Nate's current favorite is "So What" by Pink. What does that say about me?

R.I.P. Crabby

It seems our hermit crab has gone to a happier place. A place with no children to give him train rides. A place where he won't go missing upstairs only to be found downstairs. A place where he will be fed and given water. Chase found him on Monday. I am waiting to see how long it takes Cade to notice that his "beloved" pet is missing. Has not happened yet. Poor Crabby.

A Word or Two about Potty Training

I can sum up how potty training is going with Nate with 2 words - Amazingly BAD! He is not interested AT ALL. We talk about how diapers are for babies and underwear is for big boys. He answers, "Diapers are for Nate." He is refusing to even sit on the potty. I left him naked the other day hoping to encourage some potty action. He needed to take care of some dirty business, so I brought him to the potty. He was holding on to the doorframe, screaming and crying about how he did not want to sit on the potty. The diaper was put on, and the business was taken care of in a prompt manner. Potty training is off for right now. Maybe when he is 4!!!

Help Needed

Can you imagine being 33 years old and having to face a cancer diagnosis? A single parent who grew up in the foster care system? Someone who has minimal family support? Someone who is unable to work because of health issues? Someone who has 4 children (a 13-year-old daughter, an 11-year-old son, and 10-year-old boy/girl twins)? Someone who cannot provide any Christmas for her children? I am trying to get together some Christmas gifts for her children. She has an amazing optimistic spirit. She is someone who is incredibly kind to everyone. Her spirit amazes me. Do you want to help? Please contact me if you can help. I can be reached at adoptionanswers@verizon.net. If you want to buy a gift, then I can provide you with a list. If you want to donate money, then I will let you know what your money buys. If you feel that this is not something that you want to participate in, then please just say a prayer for Judy.

Thanks!!!

Friend's Birthday Party

On November 2nd, we went to Cade's friend's birthday party. The boys had a great time.
3-legged race (also known as the wounded Jedi race)

Cade won!! Or not :) Poor boy has my athletic ability

Chase and Caleb - see how Caleb does not have any shoes on!
Treasure hunt

Nate with his best bud - aren't they 2 of the cutest boys that you have ever seen

Can you see the Lego candies that Anita made - she is not the slacker that I am!

His Daddy's boy!
Yeah! I am caught up on my blogging!!

Fright Fest

On the 1st, we went to Six Flags for Fright Fest. It was a bit crowded, but the boys had a great time. We went with some friends, and that was a lot of fun. We will have to do it again.

Pumpkin Carving

Being the slacker mom that I am, we carved our pumpkins late in the afternoon on Halloween.
Nate was not interested in helping

Chase wanted to do his own creation
The boys requested another puking pumpkin like we had last year. When we came home from trick or treating, someone had put an empty beer can next to the pumpkin. While I get the humor, I did not really want that kind of humor at my house.

Halloween Day at School

Cade and Dylan were able to dress up as something that they want to be when they grow up. Cade wore a too small firefighter outfit, and Dylan dressed up as a soccer player. Nate wore his spider costume to preschool.

Pumpkin Patch

Here is the extent of my visit to the Pumpkin patch this year. This is on the afternoon of Halloween. Nate fell in love with this tombstone that I had just bought at Garden Ridge. He was able to wear his costume to preschool this day. He pretty much wore his costume all day, all the next day, all the next....you get the point. I have just one thing to say about the pumpkin patch ....slacker mom :)

Our church's Trunk of Treats was held the weekend before Halloween. I did not get a lot of pictures because I was busy chasing after Nate.
My boys plus one of Chase's friends
