Arrival at Camp

We arrived at Camp on Friday. Scheduled for that night was a cookout with Hobo dinners. It began to pour and to hail (pea-sized). Brought back a lot of memories of campfires being adjusted thanks to the weather. No cookout that night. I was hoping that the boys would get to experience a cookout and a worship at the lakes with a fire. Because of the rain, they did not get to experience either one of those. They did not mind, the hail was too much fun! They had a blast playing in the hail. You could still find piles of left-over hail on Sunday.

Swinging and Zipping

The boys (the dark-haired one is my nephew) camped out in a tent on Saturday night at camp. We had been very busy that day so they slept good. That morning, we went to the giant swing and the zip line. They have built the structure in the meadows that were once used for cooking out. These meadows are where Mark proposed to me. That afternoon, we took a hike to Marble Falls. Chase and my nephew, Lang, went on the hike. They were at the front of the group and I wasn't! I didn't see them until we reached our destination! I would love to show you pictures of the hike, but our camera battery chose that moment to die. A friend took pictures for me and as soon as her computer is fixed then she will email them to me. The camp programs were that night. We left early because the kids had had enough of the fun. I am glad because I heard it wasn't over until 11:30 p.m. New Mexico time!!!

My nephew went on the swing after Chase. I told him that I thought he would go higher than Chase did (they got to choose how high they went) and as soon as I said that he was higher then he pulled the cord!

Here I am! It was great fun!!!!!

Here I am going down the zip line.

Here is Chase swinging.

These pictures are a little bit out of order - this is my cute nephew

Pokemon Nirvana

Camp had a silent auction in order to raise money. One of the items offered was a Pokemon collection. Dylan saw it and badly wanted to bid on it. I was on a hike, but I was told by several people that Dylan and another little boy were discussing (heatedly) who needed the cards the most. The other little boy's mother placed a bid. A few minutes before the auction time was up, I placed a bid. The other boy was there with his mother watching the prize. We bid back and forth a few times until his mom said "no more". Begging and pleading was next. Dylan offered to share some of the loot with the boy. A deal was made. At the last minute, a girl (around 7 or 8) came up and wrote down a $100 bid!!!!! I asked her if her mom knew she was doing that and she said, "yes". I doubted it. I knew there was no way that I was going to beat that bid!!!!! I told the boys that we would have to wait and see. The drama!! The boys were asking me every few minutes if I knew yet! The other boy was asking. The next morning, we found out that we had won!!! The boys were so excited about their loot. The other boy, whose name is Wrigley Field - I kid you not, was excited too. He paid money for some of the loot. The loot negotiation was hysterical!! Everyone was finally satisfied and Dylan and Wrigley ended up playing a lot together.

Here are some pictures of them enjoying the loot.

Seeing Friends

The best part of the reunion was being able to see good friends that we had not seen for a while. I loved watching my kids making friends with their kids. I have visions of them being friends and going to camp together. Chase is so excited that he will get to go next year. He has already informed us that he will be going to a 2-week session, not a 1-week. We were told that we need to try to register him at midnight on the first possible day in January. I love that camp fills up so fast now! I can't believe that my baby is almost old enough to be a camper!

I finally got to meet Heather's husband. He was so nice. They brought their oldest daughter and she is stunning! I had no idea that they were back in Texas and that they have 4 girls!! Hmmm, wouldn't Heather be a great mother-in-law to one of my boys?!

My Family

My entire family was able to come to the reunion. Mark, me, and all of my siblings were counselors (and campers) in the past. I went every year to camp except for when I was going into the 6th grade and I went with my friend to her camp. Dad is on the board. Camp is very special to us. Mark even proposed to me one time when we were up here with some friends (in a December).

Hanging Out

Playing on one of the campgrounds at camp.
My niece, Lanae
Not a child related to me, but a picture of the salamander that the boys kept catching over and over again. It was a great source of fun.
One of Nate's favorite things was playing with the rocks. Nate was also being Mr. Independent and kept going up and down the steps of the deck. The deck finally won and Nate came home with a beautiful busted lip.
My brother and my niece
Cousins playing together at the other playground. You would not BELIEVE how incredibly messy the boys got - especially Dylan. You should have seen the bath water!!

Nate did not get regular naps or any sort of a regular schedule so he was a bit of a bear. Here he is having a great time with the golf ball. He would drop it and then Mark would catch it and give it back to him. He thought that was super funny.

Scary Hair

On Monday morning, Cade woke up with super scary hair. We told him about it and being the OCD child that he is, he immediately tried to start putting water on it to comb it. He DID NOT want us to take a picture of it. We finally got him to take a picture. Two seconds after this picture, Cade was combing his hair. Now if I could just get him to feel the same way about pee on the toilet seat.

Fishin'

All weekend the boys were begging and begging to go fishing. Especially Chase and my nephew, Lang. The weekend was so packed that we weren't sure if we would find the time. After taking a hike on Saturday, we decided to skip the hike on Sunday and Mark and Jared took the boys fishing. Unfortunately, the fish had different ideas. They only caught one fish - which was already dead! They still had fun.

Cade really was not that interested in the fishing.

What a catch!
