Things Always Happen

Sweet Bubbas in a tub
It is true, I require constant supervision!

We have been preparing for our big trip to Arizona! After a week of a lovely stomach bug, Nate was finally well. I just knew that Cade and Nate would get to go to preschool on Wednesday (Cade goes to preschool 2 days a week but Nate only goes on Wednesdays) so that I could get started on packing (the plan was to leave Thursday early afternoon). What happens? Nate wakes up Wednesday morning running a 103 degree fever!! No school for him! He came down with croup and with a cold. He was miserable and wanted to be held a lot. He finally went down for a nap, a long nap! Luckily Jenise and Mom came over and Jenise picked up Cade from preschool and the boys from school. It was a true lifesaver for Nate. He was able to take a nap for over 4 hours!! The next day he was very clingy which is always helpful when you have a lot to do to prepare for a trip. Of course, I am getting ready when I hear a big crash. Cade dropped one of my bowls. Bowl + tile floor = BIG MESS! The night before, Dylan had knocked over the floral arrangement by the front door - marbles and flowers went everywhere. Nate was finally happy and playing contentedly on Thursday. Then I found out why! He had found some watercolor discs and he was "painting" with them. See above pictures for the results! Our 3 o'clock goal to leave just did not happen. The boys have been so very excited about our trip. They were so ready to go that they were all in the car and buckled at least 30 minutes before we left. They have all traveled well. The first night we crashed at my parent's house - they were not even there. Once we hit New Mexico, the boys would ask every 30 minutes or so if we were in Arizona yet! So excited!! The next night, we thought it would be easy to find a hotel. It is not so easy when Arizona schools are out on Fall break and families are traveling. Finally after the assistance of Charlotte and Brad and driving at least 80 miles more than necessary, we checked into a hotel in Flagstaff. Today we met up with Charlotte, Brad, Lee, Drew, Trent, Ann, and Charles at the Grand Canyon. The boys are having a great time, except for poor Nate who is still sick! He even seems to be trying to get his stomach bug back! Lee started complaining about his stomach hurting. He was moaning and groaning and then it happened. He threw up right outside the car door right at the entrance of the hotel! Lovely. See, traveling IS fun! Posted by Picasa

Can't wait to see pictures (of the trip, NOT the stomach bug)!

Be safe and have a blast!
