A momma bird was on the porch at the cabin. She had made a nest in the wreath located right next to the door. Three baby birds were in the nest. Unfortunately, the momma bird abandoned the nest the last night we were there. She had finally had enough of all the activity around her babies. Poor baby birds. The momma bird came back the next day, which was sad.

That is sad. When we lived in Haltom City we had a purple house finch that would build a nest in our front porch wreath every year for about five years straight. She would hatch five babies every time and we got lots of neat pictures. Fortunately, she never abandoned her nest even with all the commotion. They sure make a mess but they are fun to watch from little ugly hatchlings to full feathered flyers!
